Lebanon Explosion: Individuals injured across Beirut the capital

A very massive explosion had ripped in through the entire central part of Beirut on 4th August 2020. The explosion was so severe that it went on to kill hundreds of people; thousands of them were injured and were blown out of the windows from the building. The Beirut Explosion blast took place near the Beirut’s port. Due to the blast, there was a massive cloud in mushroom-shaped which appeared as a shockwave; it ended up flipping the cars and damaging the buildings around it. Even people in Cyprus could feel the terror which is hundreds of miles away. The Beirut explosion registered an earthquake of 3.3 magnitudes.

Hassan Diab, the Prime Minister of Lebanon, claimed that about 2,750 tons of nitrate ammonium which is a very explosive material which is primarily used in bombs and fertilizers. This material was stored for about six years at a warehouse at a port without any sort of safety measures. This scenario spoke volumes about how the safety of the citizens was kept endangered. Prime Minister of Lebanon was furious and called the storage of these materials as totally ‘Unacceptable’. He immediately called for an investigation into the Beirut Explosion to understand the cause of why the blast took place. He wants the results of the investigation to be released within five days.

Abbas Ibrahim, who is the general security chief of Lebanon, spoke about the highly explosive material, and this materials year back was confiscated and stored in the warehouses. These warehouses were very near to the Beirut’s district of nightlife and shopping.

As per the initial reports, the entire blame of the Beirut explosion was on the fire which took place at the warehouse near the airport. The number of people died has been continuing to climb as more and more bodies have been pulled from the wreckage. As of now, at least 78 deaths have been recorded, and approximately 4,000 people have been wounded as per Hamad Hasan, the health minister of Lebanon. The health minister also claimed that many people who were in the vicinity have been missing and the emergency department is flooded with queries for missing family members. The explosion took place on 4th night, and it was difficult to trace people at the night time as there was no electricity as well. The country is facing catastrophe and is pleading for time to assess the entire damage and recover through it.

As soon as the massive explosion took place, the hospitals in Beirut experienced great chaos as the hospital was flooded with wounded people. Some had broken their limbs, and others had shards of glasses showered on them, some patients were unconscious as well.

The US Embassy present in Beirut did urge that people in that area stay indoors, wear masks and cover themselves. It is because there were reports that toxic gasses are being released from the blast.

The explosion will require the combine efforts of all the Lebanese to come together and recover.
